    Social Security Board celebrates 30 years of existence

    ~~Adz:Left~~ Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Social Security Board is, this year, celebrating its 30th birthday and in commemoration thereof, will be hosting a list of activities to stretch from the beginning of February to sometime in April.
     
    The activities are scheduled to begin on 1st February dubbed Social Security Day, with an address by the Minister with responsibility for Social Security, Sam T. Condor officially declaring the celebration open.  The launch of a “commemorative magazine” will also take place on that day.
     
    On Sunday 3rd February, the staff members of the Social Security Board, St. Kitts, will join the members of the Antioch Baptist Church at their 9:30 a.m. service of worship.
     
    A grand parade through the streets of Basseterre is scheduled to take place on 7th February.  It will begin at the Tamarind Tree in Greenlands at 1:00 p.m. and will culminate at the Bay Road, Basseterre.
     
    Other activities include a Benefit Walk from the Social Security Board building to Frigate Bay to be held on 9th February, a Church Service to be held in Nevis at the Butler’s Church of God on 10th February and a Health Fair to be held at the Independence Square on 15th February.  Also on that day, an Awareness Fair and Rally is scheduled to take place at the D. R. Walwyn Plaza, Charlestown.
     
    February 16th is designated as Pensioners Day in St. Kitts and will be celebrated with a Picnic Fun Day to take place at the Cable & Wireless Grounds. 
     
    According to a calendar of events, Cancer Awareness Panel Discussions will be held on 19th and 20th in St. Kitts and Nevis respectively and on 29th February 2007, Domino Tournaments will be held on St. Kitts and Nevis, in addition to which, an Open Day at the Branch Office on Nevis will be held.
     
    The month of March has been designated as the Public Education Outreach month and one of the activities listed to take place in that month is an Island Tour ending at Hanley’s Road Community Centre, Gingerland and a Variety Concert.  This is in commemoration of Nevis’ Pensioner’s Day.  These are scheduled for 7th March.
    Drama and Folklore Festivals to be held at the Basseterre High School Auditorium and the Nevis Cultural Centre are scheduled to take place on 4th and 5th April respectively. 
     
    The celebration will come to a close on 28th April with an Occupational Health Issues Seminar: to be held in collaboration with the Labour and Health Departments of St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    Public Relations Officer for the Social Security Board, Chesil Hamilton told SKNVibes that activities have been planned over the years to celebrate Social Security’s anniversaries but this the most extensive.
