Cable & Wireless “Everyone’s a winner this Christmas” Grand Prize Draw

Basseterre St. Kitts: “LUCK”... is no longer a lady or at least that was the case when Cable & Wireless held the grand prize draw for the “Everyone’s A Winner this Christmas Promotion” which began in November of last year.
On Monday 28thJanuary 2008, at the Cable & Wireless Main Office on Cayon Street, Basseterre St Kitts, the long awaited grand prize draw took place under the watchful eyes of Gary Moving (a representative of Cable & Wireless’ auditors ,Pannell Kerr Foster) and was hosted by the Vice President of Corporate Communications & Marketing, Laverne Caines.
The first person to win was Bernel Richards of Stadium View, Cleverly Hill Sandy Point who won himself two tickets to New York City. Richards was contacted by phone and we found out that he was working at the time, at the St Kitts Marriott Resort.
Richards’s response was a bit delayed but when he realised what he had won and whom he was speaking to. He shouted an ecstatic “woooaaah” into the phone which was put on speaker phone. ~~Adz:Right~~
Richards won his prize from a field of entrants in excess of 8500 persons.
Richards works in the Store Room at the St Kitts Marriott Resort. When asked who he planned to take with him on the trip he replied “my girlfriend”. Richards revealed that he won through topping up his cellular phone (bMobile) with $20 on several occasions.
The second person to win was Selwyn Ferlance of Mount Idle, Sandy Point. Ferlance gained entry into the grand prize draw by paying his landline phone bill on time. Ferlance won the $10,000 shopping Spree at Courts. When asked if he knew about the promotion, Ferlance said yes he knew about it but that he wasn’t really looking out for it or to win anything. Ferlance is 71 years old and suffers from Prostrate problems as was revealed when the Cable & Wireless Grand Prize delivery crew arrived at his doorstep after 4pm yesterday afternoon.
Ferlance’s winnings border on a miracle-angel-watching-over-me –story in that he lost all his furniture when returned home after a prolonged stay at the hospital. Ferlance was presented with his winnings at the end of the day.
The third person to win was Shaun Hanley of Webbe’s Ground, Zion in Nevis was the person who got the whole enchilada. $100,000.00 smackaroos! The Cable & Wireless Grand Prize delivery crew boarded the Sea Bridge at around 1pm and got to the sister isle at around 2pm. Awaiting their arrival was the Cable & Wireless team from Nevis who had already gone and located the winner and set up balloons and decorated vehicles to have a mini-motorcade.
At the time of the call to inform him he had won, Shaun was driving a Backhoe as he is into the construction field. Shaun seemed to be in a daze in that he repeated his name and cell number and his address about twice to Laverne, before he was convinced that he had actually won the $100,000.00. Laverne asked “Shaun, what can you do with $100,000.00?” and he said “I could do well with that” then Laverne said “well Shaun it’s yours”! Shaun replied “Thank you, thank you, thank you”.
