Basseterre, St. Kitts: A bus driver from the St. Peters area emerged intact, from a bus which tumbled down a hill in Lower Monkey Hill sometime after 4:00 yesterday afternoon.

Information reaching SKNVibes suggests that Mervin “Starley” Finley of Lower Monkey Hill was driving motor omnibus HA19 belonging to Brian Bass also of Lower Monkey Hill, when he discovered that something was amiss.

Sources indicate that he was traveling down (west to east) the first hill in Lower Monkey Hill, when he discovered that the vehicle’s brakes were non-functional.  He, according to the information we received, made attempts to gain control of the vehicle but was not able to do so.

The bus flipped and landed on its side near the end of the hill.

Finley was able to exit the badly damaged vehicle through a window at the front  which also had considerable damage.  There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Finley emerged from the wreckage with minor injuries to his neck, back and hand.  SKNVibes understands that he went to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and was later released.
