PRESS RELEASE

CHARLESTOWN Nevis, October 3rd, 2011 -- Nevis based Voices of Women (VOW) stands in solidarity with the families directly affected by child sexual abuse, according to a press statement released by VOW’s  board members.

“We recognize that these incidents impact not only the survivors of abuse but the entire community. VOW would like to lend our support by organizing a series of community discussions on this topic, which will be held from October through December 2011,” the statement said.

VOW’s  focus will be  raising awareness and providing tips for parents and community members to protect the children. These discussions will be facilitated by VOW's Vice-President, Ms. Carol Williams. Ms. Williams has thirty years of expertise working with survivors and families who are dealing with the short and long term effects of child sexual abuse.

Voices of Women exists to empower women and their families through advocacy, fundraising and capacity building. For further information, please contact Ms. Carol Williams at 664 9198 or Voices of Women at 763 4348.
