ST. JOHN'S Anyigua, September 30th, 2011 -- The 4th Annual Francis Nunes Jr. Tournament and Seafood Festival will be held this Saturday 1st October at Nelsons Dockyard.
Chairman of the Antigua & Barbuda Sport Fishing Association, Phillip Shoul said this year's event will honour the immeasurable contributions made to the sport by the late Francis Nunes Jr.
Last year’s winner, Michael Hall said Nunes, the longest service chairperson of the Antigua and Barbuda Sport Fishing Association, was passionate about the development of the sport, and he would have loved to see an event of this kind which has become a fun and festive community affair.
“He loved to see people getting together from all walks of life,” Hall said.
So, what can you expect? Great catches and good eating; an all-around good lime. The boats, 30 of them, will
be on the water reeling them in, and the landlubbers will be at the Dockyard digging in.
Prizes will be awarded for catchers of the largest dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, and tuna; the best male, female and youth fisher; the youngest angler; and the boat with the most poundage.
