The Company hereby announces the retirement of Executive Director Austin “Gary” Da Silva, effective 1st February, 2008
Mr. Da Silva first joined TDC as Manager of the Insurance Department in September of 1984 and then went on to be the first General Manager of SNIC (the St. Kitts Nevis Insurance Company Limited). He also served as a Director of this insurance subsidiary throughout his tenure at the helm of the Company. In October 2000, Mr. Da Silva was appointed as an Executive Director to the Parent Company TDC Limited and has served, with distinction, in this capacity ever since.
Chairman of TDC, Mr. Michael Morton said, “If we were to single out one individual who is responsible for the growth, development and success of our insurance business, that would be Gary Da Silva.” Mr. Da Silva also represents the TDC Group as Managing Director of Anguilla-based MAICO (the Malliouhana Anico Insurance Company) and as a Director on the Board of Group Subsidiary ECRC (East Caribbean Reinsurance Company). He has also served on the boards of several other TDC Group subsidiaries.
He presently serves as a Director of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean which reflects the high regard in which he is held in the industry region wide. As Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Da Silva successfully piloted the staging of the industry’s regional conference in St. Kitts in June 2007, which attracted over 600 re-insurers and insurers from around the world.
The Board of the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company (TDC) takes this opportunity to publicly thank Mr. Da Silva for his immeasurable contributions to the success of the Company and extends best wishes to him for a retirement full of good health and happiness.
