St. Kitts Entertainment review (October 3, 2011)

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE fully packed weekend resulted in tired bodies from partying and two queens from two new pageants.

Friday night saw Nordia Demming winning the Miss East Pearl Cultural Pageant from a field of five contestants at the Newtown Playfield. Tivana Richards and Shandor Wilkinson came in first and second respectively.

The usual Friday night hang out on the Frigate Bay Strip saw small crowds at several bars but most persons seemed to have gravitated to Ziggy’s. Meanwhile lots of patrons had boarded the
La Pinta boat for a night of raving and partying on the sea.

On Saturday night the first ever Miss St Kitts Nevis Caraibes Hibiscus Model Pageant did not attract a huge turnout but Alsanarda Hanley managed to thrill the audience and took all five judged segments as well as the crown.

SKNVibes then went down to Ma Pau shortly after 1:00 a.m. for the Sexy in the City affair. Mixklusive Sound was mixing up some music; however, there were only a few individuals inside.

Then it was over to Cloud 9 for their opening party. The event had drawn a huge mature and sexy crowd that continued to build up as the night progressed.

A number of persons commented on the new atmosphere saying that they preferred the new venue more than the previous one and that it was a better place to party than the Basement.

Further down in Sandy Point, it was difficult trying to find parking approaching the G-Spot Night Club. Upon entering the venue, one found the outside area was full to capacity and so was the inside DJ room.

People still managed to party until broad morning and by the time they left the venue, they were soaked. As directed, a few ladies had also followed the ‘Bare If You Dare’ theme and partied half naked.

Sunday was another exciting day as hundreds of people headed to Beaumont Park for not only horse racing but to see Jamaican dancehall/reggae sensation I-Octane perform.

After home grown acts Mick Stokes and Nicha B had performed, I-Octane took the stage and gave what some individuals described as a decent performance.  That event brought the weekend to an end
