    Basseterre, St. Kitts:
The smooth flow of a busy afternoon traffic was disrupted today [Friday] when three vehicles were involved in an accident on the Island Main Road in Camps Village, within the vicinity of OJ’s 24-Hour Gas Station/Supermarket.

On arrival on the scene, SKNVibes learnt that a collision involving passenger buses H7179 (Rambo) and H7307 and Ford motor jeep PA1253 occurred at about 4:20 p.m.

Fortunately, no one was injured but extensive damage was done to the left bumper and right door of H7179 and the front right lights were broken, while extensive damage was done to the rear right of passenger bus H7307.

The door to the right side of the left-hand driven Ford jeep suffered some degree of damage and also the right fender. ~~Adz:Right~~

According to the driver of the Ford jeep, he was travelling eastwards on the Island Main Road and was about to overtake a parked vehicle [Chevrolet jeep PA6911] when the driver of H7179 collided with it and also passenger bus H7307, which was parked on the opposite side of the road.

“I was heading towards Old Road when the passenger bus tried to overtake me. A jeep was parked on the left side of the road and a passenger bus on the right, and on seeing the passenger bus [H7179] attempting to overtake I could not have swerved to my left for fear of hitting the parked jeep.

“I therefore continued driving slowly, but the passenger bus did not stop and it ran into the right side of my vehicle and during the process damaged the right side of the parked passenger bus,” the driver of PA1253 said.
The driver of passenger bus H7179 however had a different tale to tell.

He said while travelling east along the Island Main Road, he saw two vehicles parked on the left side of the road and a passenger bus on the right.

“As I approached the first parked vehicle on my left, it suddenly got into gear and was about to overtake the other parked vehicle. Everyone in the bus saw what was happening and we all thought that on seeing I was approaching he would have stopped, but he did not.

“I immediately applied my brakes and slightly pulled to my right in order to avoid a collision. But he kept on driving without regard for other road users, and his action forced me to hit the right side of the parked passenger bus while his jeep hit my vehicle on the left,” he said.

The three-vehicle collision had caused a number of drivers to seek alternative routes to get to their destination while others moved at a snail’s pace to get pass the area of the accident.

However, a member of the Police Traffic Department was quick to the scene and eased the congestion. Investigations are ongoing.
