    St. Clair "Penny" Hodge
    (St. Thomas,USVI):
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) men's volleyball team could look forward to better days when the volleyball season commences this fall, thanks to the recruitment of St. Clair "Penny" Hodge.

Hodge, a very dominant outside attacker, is a twenty five year old Kittitian. The young man hails from Cayon and began his first semester in January. He is pursuing a degree in Business Administration, with a specialty in Computer Information Systems.

Penny was quick to point out how excited he was to commence his tertiary level education at UVI and expressed his deep appreciation to Mr. Jason Liburd, an employee at the University and the coach of the UVI volleyball team, who was very instrumental in ensuring that he got into UVI.

"There is a sense of achievement to know that my athletic ability has opened windows for me at the university but the real reward comes when I successfully complete my academic requirements," Penny noted.

"My ultimate objective is to excel both academically and athletically," he added.  ~~Adz:Right~~

The volleyball star stated that he recognizes that there will be various challenges but he noted that with the right support, from family and friends, he will be able to overcome the various challenges.

In addition to playing indoor volleyball at the university, Penny is also playing the beach version of the game. Over the past year, he has gained much experience in that version- playing in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and other territories- and he is considered to be one of the top beach volleyball players in the Eastern Caribbean.

Hodge also expressed sincere appreciation to TDC, the company he worked for prior to attending university, which granted him study leave. His superiors also registered their full support on his decision to pursue a university education.

He is also a member of the St. Kitts-Nevis male national team and skill has made him one of the most feared attackers in the sub region. President of the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Volleyball Association, Glenn Quinlan, has also been a giant supporter in St. Clair's corner.

He concluded the interview by encouraging young students to "marry"academics and athletics so as to open windows of opportunity for themselves throughout the world.
