Firearms, ammo found in Basseterre

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A routine operation by the security forces led to the removal of two more guns and a quantity of ammunition from the Federation’s streets.
According to a police press release, the find took place in Basseterre on Wednesday.
“In a routine operation in the Basseterre area, on the morning of Wednesday 6th February 2008 the police recovered one .40 mm Smith and Wesson pistol, one 9 mm Glock pistol, 65 rounds of ammunition, three .40 mm Smith and Wesson magazines, one Tek 9 magazine and two 9mm Glock magazines.”
The release further informs that no one has been held accountable for the find but investigations into the matter are ongoing.
“This find brings the number of firearms recovered for 2008 by the security forces to (7) seven. Twenty one (21) firearms and over 300 rounds were recovered in 2007.”
In other news, Terrence ‘JT’ Ritchen of Carty Alley, Newtown was arrested on Tuesday and charged with “robbery”, which, according to police was committed on January 31, 2008 at Carty Alley.
