BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA) is reporting a ten percent increase in cruise passenger arrivals for the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
According to SCASPA’s Statistics Department, 234,417 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts for the first three months of this year compared to 212,849 for the same period in 2010 and 182,508 for the same period in 2009.
SCASPA is also reporting a near four percent decrease in passengers arriving at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport for the first three months of 2011.
SCASPA reports 33,332 passengers arrived at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport for the first quarter of this year compared to 34,708 passengers, a drop of 1,376 or a 3.96 percent decline.

COURTS – Courts, on September 21, launched the local leg of the Courts/OECS Reading Competition. The competition involves a series of contests between all schools in the Federation, with the winner participating in the Regional Finals with other students of the OECS.
BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA – On September 22, the Bank of Nova Scotia handed over a cheque valuing EC$3 315.34 to the Irish Town Primary School.
The donation followed a car wash that the school held in conjunction with the Bank in an effort to raise funds to purchase fans for the school.
KAJOLA KRISTADA LTD. – Kajola Kristada Ltd. recently announced the winner of their Employee of the Month for August. Taking this award is Akilah Wilson.
UNESCO – The UNESCO Jamaica Cluster Office for the Caribbean made a generous donation to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council (TVET) in St. Kitts.
The donation was in the form of equipment - a Dell notebook, a Dell desktop computer, a projector, a carrying case, and all of the related software packages, valuing at approximately EC$14 000.
KVK ENTERPRISES - KVK Learning Institute is currently offering classes to children of all ages. Classes include CXC Information Technology, Electronic Document Preparation Management, Office Procedures, English and Mathematics.
The children's computer classes run daily, every hour from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and every hour on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Reading classes, homework and SBA help are also available.
