    Nine convicted in Federation

     BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - NINE persons from across the Federation were on Tuesday convicted of offences brought against them and were fined in accordance.
     
    Lee Daniel of Molyneaux was sentenced to take up residence at Her Majesty’s Prison as punishment for his part is a “being armed with an offensive weapon and throwing missiles” incident. According to a police press release, he will inhabit there for the next six months.
     
    New Hampshire, USA resident Michael Noll appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on a charge of “possession of cannabis” and was ordered to pay EC$1 500 forthwith and failure to do so would result in him having to serve one month imprisonment. The offence was committed on January 31, 2008.
     
    St. Johnson Village resident Lennox Gumbs was ordered to pay $800 forthwith having been convicted of a “possession of cannabis”; an offence which was committed on December 10, 2007. Should Gumbs fail to pay the prescribed sum, he would have to serve a one-month prison term.
     
    “Driving without insurance” and “driving without a valid driver’s license” were the charges brought against Larry Scarborough of Mansion Village. He was convicted of both counts and fined $1 000 and $500 to be paid in three months and one month respectively. A custodial sentence would be imposed, should Scarborough be unable to pay the sum in the allotted time period.
     
    Ervin Greene of Main Street, Old Road has the next two months to come up with $1 500 and $500 more on the following month. Sums which he has been fined after conviction for “driving without insurance” and “driving without a valid driver’s license”. He was also convicted for “driving without due care and attention” but was cautioned.  ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    Naithan Shipley of Camps Village, Nevis was fined $1 000 as punishment for committing the offences of “careless driving” and “driving without a valid driver’s license. The sum is to be paid within one month or a one-month custodial sentence will be imposed. The offences were committed on January 25, 2008. On the charge of “careless driving”, he was convicted and cautioned.
     
    Bath Village, Nevis resident Akean Claxton was convicted of a January 29, 2008 offence of “possession of cannabis” and fined EC$800 which he has to pay in two months if he wishes to avoid spending one month in prison.
     
    Bernard Berharet Clark of Clifton Estate, Nevis has three months o pay a $500 fine imposed by Her Worship Yasmin Clarke after he was convicted of the offence of “careless driving”.  He was also disqualified from driving for 24 hours.
     
    For the offence a February 2, 2008 offence of “trespassing”, Garvin Jeffers of Brickiln, Nevis was convicted and fined $500 which has to be paid within one month or, in default, serve three months imprisonment.
