BASSETERRE St.Kitts, October 5th, 2011 -- The 28th Independence Anniversary Brimstone Hill Run for the Fit and Fearless, an outreach activity held as part of our Independence Celebrations to promote a fit and healthy nation in a fun, family oriented environment, saw 256 Fit and Fearless participants this year. Nationals and visitors of all age groups and sexes answered the Fit and Fearless challenge.
There was a particularly significant increase in participation from the primary and secondary schools, and of course the students from the offshore medical schools came out in their numbers and had a great time. Repeat winners at this year’s Run were Leron Ponteen in the 18-34 age group, Jessie Mulcaire in the 50-100+ age group, and Otis Stevens in the 35-49 age group.
The Management of the Brimstone Hill Society wishes to thank the following. St. Kitts Amateur Athletic Association; St. Kitts Red Cross Association; Ms. Brenda Connor; Our sponsors Digicel and Rams Trading/Red Bull; Messrs. Ian and Merlin Saunders; The Royal St. Christopher Nevis Police Force; The hardworking staff of the Brimstone Hill Society, and last but by no means least, all of you Fit and Fearless individuals who came out determined to conquer the Hill and have fun doing it.
