    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, October 5th, 2011  – His Excellency the Governor Boyd McCleary, CMG, CVO on October 3 issued the election writs, which formally pave the way for the upcoming general election.

    The Election writs are formal instructions issued by the Governor in accordance with the Elections Act. They instruct the appointed Returning Officers to carry out their functions on Nomination Day and Polling Day on the given dates.

     

    They also instruct the officers to report the election results to the Governor not later than November 8.According to the Writs, the Governor has appointed Monday, November 7, 2011 as Polling Day and Monday, October 24 as Nomination Day.

     

    Supervisor of Elections Ms. Juliette Penn shared that, “According to the amendments to the Elections Act of 1994, the final Voters’ List must be published no later than three days following the issuance of the election writs.”
