                               Minister Harris in Radio Promotion of Diplomatic Week

     

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~ (Basseterre, St. Kitts):  THE Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris is scheduled to appear on a number of radio programmes throughout the Federation to promote the 2nd Diplomatic Week being hosted in St. Kitts & Nevis from the 17th to the 21st February 2008 under the theme “Maximizing Benefits from International Relations – Building Partnerships for Mutual Advantage.”

     

     
     
    The week was the brainchild of Dr. Harris and was inaugurated in February of 2007. This year is significant in that the Federation celebrates its Silver Independence Anniversary. The Ministry is ensuring that the public is fully engaged in the week’s activities as it seeks the citizenry’s input in the formulation of a bold and proactive foreign policy, which will ultimately result with the increased development and prosperity of the country.
     
    The promotion of Diplomatic Week 2008 commenced with a Press Conference on the 5th February 2008 and was followed by a series of interviews.  On the 8th of February, deputizing for the Minister was Ambassador Errol Maynard, who was featured on the Dawn in the Morning Show on Winn Fm where he sensitized the listening public about Diplomatic Week.
     
     That appearance was followed by an appearance on Radio One 94.1 Jazz Session on Sunday. Sunday night’s program was hosted by propriertor, Mr. Gus Williams who is also the Honorary Consul Designate for Brazil in St. Kitts & Nevis. On this occasion, Minister Harris, accompanied by Mr. Eustace Wallace – Foreign Service Officer was interviewed regarding the upcoming Diplomatic Week and a range of regional and international issues.   ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    On Tuesday evening, Minister Harris along with Ambassador Errol Maynard was the special guests on CHOICE FM in Nevis where they promoted the week of activities.
    The Host of “In the Public Domain” on Choice FM also engaged the Minister for a T.V interview to be aired on NTV in Nevis.
     
    Additionally, Goldwyn Caines is expected to have a one on one session with the Minister to be aired on ZIZ radio.
     
    The Minister also appeared on Sugar City Rock’s “Hard Talk” with Junie Liburd on Wednesday evening.
     
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is stepping up its effort to interact with the public with regards to its mandate to build partnerships for mutual advantages. This important week of activities, geared towards the stimulation of foreign policy discussion provides the Ministry with a propitious time to bridge the divide between diplomats, diplomacy and the common man.
     
    The Ministry is keen to ensure that our foreign policy is inclusive and that the populace comprehends how our foreign affairs redound to the various communities within the Federation.
