Ghaut Bucs one win away from SKABA title

Kimo-Mac 11
Press Release

Basketball City, St.Kitts, Sunday 9th October 2011 -- In a seemingly lop-sided yet exciting encounter at Basketball City on Sunday evening the Ghaut Bucs comfortably took game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead against the defending champions Rams Hitters in the 2011 SKABA Finals.

Hundreds turned out to Basketball City to see if Bucs could bounce back after thier last minute loss in game 2 . And bounce back they did as they made no mistake this time with a very impressive and dominative victory over the defending champions Hitters. The Bucs led from start to finish ending the first quarter up 20-19 and the first half up 42-33. The second half was more of the same as Bucs again outscored the defending champions 25-17 to end the 3rd quarter up 17,  67-50 .

Bucs handled the always stifling man to man defense of Hitters in the 4th quarter and made no mistake as they protected the ball and had very few turnovers unlike game 2 where careless turnovers cost them the game. Ghaut Bucs continued their phenomenal play led once again by Tamboura “Tambie” Caines who once again seemed unstoppable as the Hitters defense could not find away to contain the former national player and series leading scorer.

The game ended with a very convincing 95-77 victory for the Ghuat Bucs.
Player of the Game honors was shared between Game high scorer Tamboura “Tambie” Caines who had a massive 35 pts, 5 assists ,  7 steals and teammate Kimo Liburd who poured in 25 pts 9 rebs 4 steals. Sherwin “S-Bo” Allen supported well with 9 pts 3 assists and 3 steals and Dwight “Mac 11” Jacobs grabbed 11 boards to go with 10 pts.

Marlon “Jah Love” Powell led Hitters once again with 21 pts, 8 rebs and 5 assists while teammate Ansel ‘Bonzi” Revan had 19pts, 4 rebs.

The series continues on Thursday with Ghaut Bucs just one win away from their first SKABA title.
It is unclear whether veteran Coach James “Barman” Hanley will be sending for his overseas based players including Marvin “Skywalker” Davis and Jerran Morris for Thursday’s must win game for the 19 time champions.
