CHARLESTOWN, Nevis: Police are still trying to piece together the details surrounding an accident where a vehicle was found crashed in a ditch in Jessups early Sunday morning.
According to Corporal James Hazel of the Nevis Traffic Department, on Sunday Feb 17, Okang Lawrence of Craddock made a report to the police that his car was missing from where he had parked it on Saturday.
“Mr. Lawrence came to the station and reported that he had parked his vehicle outside his home on Saturday and around 7 a.m. on Sunday he noticed it was missing. He was reportedly accustomed to leaving his keys in his vehicle,” Hazel said.
He went on to say that Lawrence later called to inform the police that he had received a call saying that his vehicle had been spotted in a ghaut in Jessups.
“Police responded to the scene and found motor vehicle P 2191 in a ghaut on its top. The vehicle was extensively damaged. Although we had no information as who had been operating the vehicle at the time of the crash, we ascertained that some person or persons in the car suffered some form of injury as blood was found inside the vehicle,” he informed.
Hazel added that information reaching the police indicated that the accident took place sometime around 2 a.m. on Sunday, however no further information was given.
“We have checked with both the hospitals on St. Kitts and Nevis to see if anyone had received medical treatment for any related injuries. So far no one has turned up. We are continuing our investigations into the matter and urge anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.”
