BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SEVERAL members of the Black Knights Gang were on Sunday arrested following an attempted search exercise by police officers.
Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry told SKNVibes that the gang members were arrested after they resisted the police officers’ attempt to conduct a body search. He explained that on February 11, while congregated in the Tabernacle area, officers observed the gang members smoking what they suspected to be marijuana.
The men, Jervin Rawlins, Kevis Hughes, Dave Charles, Crispin Carey, Javid Rawlins, Junior Stevens, Dijorn Nisbet, Olanzo Carey, Jermaine Carey and Habush, who are all residents of Tabernacle Village, were taken into police custody and charged with “Obstruction” under the Small Charges Act.
A police press release dated February 18, 2008 informs that Alsworth Rawlins of Tabernacle Village was arrested and charged with “Carrying abroad an offensive weapon” and Uriel Gibson, also of Tabernacle Village, was arrested and charged with “Refusing to give his name” and “Obstruction”.
“These persons are known members of the Tabernacle area gang known as the Black Knights. They are identified by the black shirt worn by its members,” the release informs.
Henry said some of the arrested gang members have since been granted bail but with conditions attached.
Investigations continue.
