ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, October 11th, 2011  – In an effort to improve customer service and to give customers options when paying bills, the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) officially launched their new website during a press conference yesterday.

During the press conference, which was held at BVIEC’s conference room, General Manager Mr. Leroy Abraham educated the gathering about the new initiative. “For years we at BVIEC have heard the cries of customer’s appeal for an alternate means of paying their bills. Today I am pleased to officially announce the introduction of our website,www.bvielectricity.com.”

According to the General Manager the corporation’s quest was to make the website as simple and as user friendly as possible. In order to use the site a registration is required, and essential information such as account number, full name, postal code and meter number are needed to complete registration. This information he said is available on the customers’ bill.

“Once your account is registered you will have access to a wealth of information including billing and transaction history, usage, disconnection notices, energy saving tips and of course bill payment.”

Mr. Abraham stated that bills should be paid at least three days in advance of disconnections and can be paid with any major credit cards or ATM debit card which has a visa logo on it. He assured the gathering that the site is secure and it is not different from any other e-commerce site.

In speaking of future enhancements to customer service, Mr. Abraham said “In the not too distant future we intend to give customers the capability of monitoring electrical usage from the website, based on the new digital meters currently being installed territory-wide.

In closing Mr. Abraham encouraged customers to utilise the website. “It was developed for you, our valued customers. It allows you to pay your bills online which saves time and provides the flexibility to pay bills at your convenience.”

In 2009 the BVIEC launched their new bill format and with the launching of the new website the corporation seeks to continue fulfilling their mission of providing the best possible service to its customers and aid in the development of the Territory’s electrical infrastructure.
