Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 16, 2004): The St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services came to the rescue of flood victims of Conaree after being asked to assist by Parliamentary Representative for the area Hon. Cedric Liburd.
Acting Fire Chief Hester Rawlins explained that Minister Liburd sought their assistance with the flooding.
He said that he came personally to inspect the area and agreed that it was necessary to help the residents of the area. As such, the appropriate equipment was brought from the fire station.
Mr. Rawlins said that with the assistance of a pump that has the capacity to removing 1,000 gallons per minute, the Fire Services was in the process of draining the excess water.

One resident of the Conaree area, Mr. Hobson, said that he was pleased with the response of the constituency representative.
He said it was nice to see Minister Liburd arrive so quickly along with the Fire Services and the Public Works Department.
Minister Liburd sought the assistance of the Public Works Department to find a long-term solution to the flooding of the area.
