ST.THOMAS, USVI: Twenty-six year-old Kima Tyson, originally from Molineux Village, is just another Kittitian using the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), St. Thomas campus to complete her tertiary level education.

Kima, also known as Kima Bedford, is into the second semester of her Business Administration studies with emphasis on financing. The ambitious young woman has skillfully blended her academic talents with her natural beauty to create the ideal launch pad for her professional career in Finance.

Prior to leaving St. Kitts, Kima worked at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank and also had a short stint as a teacher at the Molyneux Primary School.

Like many others, she quickly learned that University life was not without its challenges.

"The initial stages of my studies were especially challenging as I realized that most of my classmates were seventeen and eighteen year-old students but I was able to rise above that obstacle," she said. ~~Adz:Right~~

Kima admitted that she had previously been a bit skeptical about going to the University of the Virgin Islands, but that soon gave way to the realization that a degree  in her field of choice was necessary if she was to fulfill her dreams.

"To all those who are out there still pondering whether or not to go to college, go for it… because you will not only be rewarded with a degree at the end of your studies, but you will also reap the benefits of learning to be focused, driven and independent," she advised.
Kima has undertaken a full slate of courses en route to obtaining her degree including Business 112, Accounting, Spanish, Social Science and Math 232.

Serving as her inspiration are her mother and darling three year-old son. She said she uses this support as her motivation in her studies and to keep the balance between school and her budding modeling career.

Kima will be talking the catwalk by storm Saturday 23rd February when she appears in the Virgin Islands Fashion Show. Other opportunities are opening up for the young Kittitian as a number of fashion pundits have expressed interest in having her model in their productions.

Kima definitely has her eyes on the prize as she endeavors to achieve her goals and aspirations; to return home with her degree and make her family and friends even more proud.
