    Scholarships available for SKN Nationals

    ~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts:THE government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is making several scholarship opportunities available for suitable nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis to continue their education.
     
    Currently there are three scholarships available for persons interested in pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree in any area of study.
     
    These will be full scholarships that will cover tuition and other amenities including a monthly allowance of approximately US$950.
     
    Applicants must be of Kittitian or Nevisian nationality and who have completed high school or sixth form with ‘satisfactory academic achievement’.
     
    Successful nominees will be provided with roundtrip airfare from St. Kitts to Taipei, any other travel during the entire program will not be provided by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
     
    Interested persons would have to locate the appropriate university that corresponds with the field of study chosen. Information about universities or university-affiliated language centers in Taiwan can visit the official government website, www.study Taiwan.org, for advice on study in Taiwan.

    Interested persons can collect the necessary application form and obtain more information at the Human Resources Department, Government Headquarters, Church Street.
     
    Caribbean hospitality students, employees and educators wishing to pursue studies in developmental and professional courses related to the tourism can take advantage of the Caribbean Hotel Association Education Foundation, (CHAEF) Scholarship Program.
     
    CHAEF, the non profit subsidiary of the Caribbean Hotel Association, launched its 2008/2009 scholarship program on Jan 3rd. The program offers awards ranging from US $500 to US $5000 to candidates demonstrating a strong commitment to the industry and potential for future success.
     
    Various corporations have contributed to the program such as Virgin Holidays Tourism Management who has a scholarship worth US$ 10,000.
     
    Successful applicants must be Caribbean nationals with a high school (or equivalent secondary school) diploma, and pursuing a tourism related educational degree along with a demonstrated financial need.
    Scholarship application forms, application guidelines, a list of mentors, and additional information about the CHA Education Foundation are now available on the CHF website at www.caribbeanhotelfoundation.org.  Application deadline is March 15, 2008.
