BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A teenager was this evening (Oct. 13) gunned down in Mad House Alley, Newtown, taking the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year to a record high 30.
Dead is 17-year-old Vincent Williams of Herbert Street, Newtown, who was shot multiple times to the body including his lower back and right arm.
According to sources, another man, whose name was given only as Blacka, was also shot in the leg.
This media house was told that the incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. and that Williams was among a group of young men riding a bicycle along Mad House Alley, when a number of gunmen appeared and fired about 12 shots at them.
Williams fell face down on the ground and the others who were with him ran for cover, while the gunmen fled the scene running along Roxborough Street and into George Street.
On arrival at the scene, investigating officers found a number of spent shells which they said would be taken into custody for further analysis.
Williams was pronounced dead by District Medical Officer Dr. Mervyn Laws, and at press time his body was still at the scene with Jenkins Funeral Home in waiting.
