BASSETERRE, St Kitts – WITH the recent establishing of a women-managed entity, Kittitians now have another alternative when making travel arrangements.

Cynthia Maynard and Karen Warner began a two-woman business when they opened the doors of Trafalgar Travel (St. Kitts) to the public on February 1, 2008. Cynthia is the  manager of the agency and it is located at Unit 10 Horsford Complex in the same general area as the Lottery and Dental Offices near to Horsford’s Valu Mart IGA.

Together, these ladies have over 40 years experience in the travel and consultancy fields. In their respective journeys to the considerable autonomy they now have, Cynthia and Karen both worked at TDC Airlines/Liat at some point leading up to this. However, they never worked there together.

Karen started out working as an agent at Delisle Walwyn & Co Ltd., Travel while Cynthia was employed by TDC Airlines/Liat. Cynthia then decided to test the waters elsewhere and moved to Travel World. Ironically, at that time, Karen had been wooed by TDC Airlines/Liat into the position of Duty Officer at the RLB International Airport.

Cynthia would later leave Travel World for Kantours, where after three years she would become Manager and hold this position for 11 years.  Cynthia though a manager began feeling constrained, and felt that in order to move up, she would have to move on and later resigned from Kantours. Incidentally, Karen worked with Cynthia for a short period while Cynthia was Kantours Manager, but returned to work for TDC Airlines/Liat as Reservations Supervisor just prior to becoming involved in this new venture.

After receiving high recommendation from a mutual travel associate, the CEO of Trafalgar Travel Jamaica approached Cynthia about the possibility of her becoming their partner; she later teamed up with Trafalgar Travel and Karen to open the branch office here in St Kitts and the rest is history!

~~Adz:Left~~ Despite purchasing a ticket from another agent, Trafalgar Travel can arrange hotel accommodations, car rental or limousine service for anyone, and even offer them travel insurance. This agency offers website fares for Delta Airline flights as well. Cynthia and Karen encourage their already well-established customer-base to use email to make travel arrangement requests, and see this as a benefit and strength of their service.

Additionally, Trafalgar Travel has a 24-hour emergency hotline, just In event that a customer finds himself/herself in an unfamiliar environment, dumped-off of a flight in the middle of the night, and no way of getting home, Trafalgar Travel has a 24-hour emergency hotline, which will get them to an individual who will get you either onto another flight or into a hotel for the night; and that is a comforting thought!

Through its motto, “Quality Relationships and Quality Service”, Trafalgar Travel St. Kitts hopes to provide seamless travel for persons travelling to destinations where there is another Trafalgar Travel branch office.

Trafalgar Travel is a network of travel agencies headquartered in Jamaica. There are 13 agencies in Jamaica, two in Barbados and Trinidad respectively, and one each in Antigua and St Kitts.  Trafalgar Travel is the winner of the 2007 World Travel Awards for the Caribbean’s Leading Travel Agency.
