BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE search continues for the two men who were reported missing after the boat in which they went fishing capsized in the Atlantic Ocean around the Canoe Bay area in the South East Peninsula on Tuesday, February19.
Speaking with SKNVibes, Public Affairs Officer of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force [SKNDF], Lieutenant Kayode Sutton, said the Coast Guard has not given up its search for Keita Williams and Kasim Dula Maynard of Newtown Project, who are believed to have drowned in the Atlantic Ocean.
“Members of the Coast Guard continue to search for the two missing men, Keita Williams and Dula Maynard. Routine patrols have been used in an effort to find the men but so far there has been no trace forthcoming.
“We have not called off the search, and as recent as yesterday [Sunday] a prolonged search with the Coast Guard Cutter, ‘Stalwart’, went as far as Antigua in search of the missing men,” Sutton said.
Sutton said all neighbouring islands were informed of the incident and are on the lookout for the men.
Meanwhile, the police have indicated that they wish to speak to Collin ‘Izum’ Matthew but were unable to locate him. They are requesting that Matthew report to either the Basseterre or Frigate Bay Police Stations as soon as possible.
Matthew is the individual who had captained the ill-fated vessel [FV LADY SEA] that capsized with the missing men.
