    ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, October 14th, 2011 -- The Government of Grenada is providing housing assistance to athletic coach, Albert Joseph, for his contribution to the performance of Grenada’s international athletes, in Daegu, South Korea.

     

    Press Secretary Richard Simon retracted an earlier statement which said that  housing assistance was being provided to the parents of Coach Joseph.

     

    “The cabinet agreed to provide assistance directly to Coach Joseph, who is recognized along with a coalition of individuals and organizations in shaping the talents of our athletes,” Simon said.

     

    He apologized for the inaccuracy and confirmed that Coach Joseph has been recognized, along with Kirani James, Rondell Bartholomew and Janelle Redhead, whobrought joy to Grenada with their performances in Deagu, South Korea, earlier this year.

     

    The full reward and recognition package is as follows.

     

    ? Renaming of Lagoon Road to Kirani James Boulevard

     

    ? Provision of a parcel of land to both Kirani and Rondel

     

    ? Provision of a home for Kirani’s family

     

    ? Provision of housing assistance to Janelle’s parent

     

    ? Provision of housing assistance to coach Joseph

     

    ? Appointment as Sports Ambassadors with Official Passports

     

    ? Commissioning of a commemorative stamp with Rondell and Kirani

     

    ? Issuance of an invitation to Alleyne Francique to attend the ceremony and the naming of the roundabout at the top of Lagoon Road in his name.
