BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS- THE faculty and students of the George Moody Stuart School arrived Monday morning to a disturbing discovery when they found that several classrooms had been ransacked and defaced sometime over the weekend.

SKNVibes.com was on the scene and spoke with the principal Zita Bowry, who was still waiting for the Police to respond to her report.

“It must have been boys who did this because I couldn’t see grown men doing such a thing,” Bowry said, quite disturbed by the vandalism.

She said it appeared that the perpetrators had entered the school by climbing over the courtyard walls and then jumping down.

The vandals broke into several class rooms and flung books, papers, and school supplies wildly about the room. They took the vandalism a step further by smearing a tar-like substance on some of the desks.

Several teachers shook their heads in disappointment as they replaced items on their desks and in their teaching cabinets.

A stack of benches piled against the inside of the courtyard walls indicated that the perpetrators used them as they made their exit back over the wall.

Bowry said that nothing appeared to have been stolen but added “It doesn’t make any sense why someone would do this; there is nothing here for anyone to steal.”

The faculty was determined not to let the unfortunate event distract them from their daily teaching routine, resuming classes shortly after the discovery.
