EBC Recognizes Homeowners for “Best Kept Yards”

    Mr. and Mrs. Eric and Christine James are the first recipients of this award.

     

    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, October 20th, 2011 -- This week the East Beautification Committee (EBC) launched its campaign to recognize homeowners who have the “Best Kept Yards” in the East End, Long Look, Greenland and Hope Estate communities. Persons will be recognized by a banner displayed at their property for one week.

     

    This week EBC recognizes Mr. and Mrs. Eric and Christine James as the first recipients of the “Best Kept Yard” award. The committee acknowledges their contribution to keeping their community clean and attractive. EBC invites you the community to salute the James with us and encourages you to follow their lead!

    Message of encouragement to others: Mr. James said that he along with his wife are happy to be the first recipients of the “Best Kept Yard” Banner.  They never imagined that caring for their property would allow them to arrive at this point. Mr. James credits his wife Mrs. Christine James for the work done in the garden.

     

    “Well it is my wife who really doing the work.  I only assist her,” he said. He encourages other persons to beautify around their home.

     

    “You cannot just build a house and leave it like that.  That is not a house at all.  You have to plant around it and beautify it.  The yard is the beauty of your home. You have to have something planted around your home,” Mr. James said.

     

    About EBC
    The East Beautification Committee (EBC) is a new group of concerned citizens from the East End, Long Look, Hope Estate and Greenland communities dedicated to enhancing the physical appearance and health of our communities in order to improve the quality of life for residents and create a better environment for tourism activity and business.

     

    The EBC will focus on improving the waste disposal system; creating green recreational spaces; organizing a series of cleanups and tree plantings; improving community stewardship through education, building community pride and incentives; and advocating for changes such as improved road safety and maintenance of road sides. 
     
    Upcoming Yard Competition!
    In partnership with the Tourist Board, this Christmas the EBC will launch a competition that rewards persons for cleaning up and making over their yard. EBC believes this exciting competition can transform the face of the Eash one yard at a time.

     

    The competition will open Thanksgiving Day and end on Christmas Day. Great prizes will be up for grabs, including cash prizes of $1,000 for 1st prize, $500 for 2nd prize and $250 for 3rd prize.
