    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –
More than 20 people were injured in yesterday’s (March 5th) mid-morning vehicular accident involving two Omni buses in the West Farm area.

According to a Police Press Release, Motor Bus H8338 was traveling from Sandy Point to Basseterre when the driver stopped to pick up a passenger in the vicinity of Hiya’s Shop.

That was when Motor Bus HA21 owned and driven by Charles Duggins of Dieppe Bay collided with the other vehicular, sending twenty persons to the J.N.F.

Hospital and causing extensive damage to both buses. Motor Bus H8338 is owned by Kelvin Carty of Sandy Point and was being driven by Kenyatta Huggins of Saddlers at the time of the incident.  ~~Adz:Right~~

There were no serious injuries reported as most of the passengers were treated for minor injuries and discharged, however four were detained for observation. Both drivers escaped unhurt. Police continue to investigate the incident.

One of the passengers in H8338, Carolyn Maynard had remained trapped in the vehicle for some time after the accident and had to be rescued by fire services and a helpful civilian. Maynard was taken to the hospital following the ordeal and is reportedly doing well, having sustained only minor injuries to her legs.

“I must thank the Lord Almighty for that on the spot miracle. Just seconds after I realized that my feet were trapped and couldn't move, I called my fiancé and told him about the tragedy and then started praying. My feet are my daily bread and I prayed to God that I wouldn’t lose them.

I know lots of people are concerned, some are saying my feet are crushed, some are saying I lost a leg and some are saying both my feet are broken. I just want to say that’s all false.

My present condition is that my feet are swollen and painful. Thanks to God Almighty and those who assisted me in anyway,” Maynard said via an SKNVibes.com posting.
