Juvenile on probation; ordered to attend Project Strong

~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A juvenile and a 19-year-old male, who were convicted of offences brought against them, were placed on bond and ordered to adhere to a number of restrictions and bond conditions.
“Carrying abroad an offensive weapon” was the charge of which a 17-year-old Basseterre resident was found guilty. As punishment for the offence, the teenager was placed on a 24- month probation. The court ordered that during that period, he is to “keep the peace and be of good behavior”. In addition, the juvenile is also ordered to observe a curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., to attend Project Strong and to report to the Magistrate’s Court on May 19, 2008,” a police press release informs.
Neverson Street resident Karim Browne, charged with “wounding with intent”, was convicted and placed on a 24-month probationary period during which he is, as explained in a police press release, “to keep the peace and be of good behavior, to attend counselling for anger management and conflict resolution. He is also not to be seen in the company of undesirables or in areas that are known to be affiliated with persons of undesirable character or criminal activities.”
Also, Akimba Whyte of Haynes Smith Village was convicted of “possession of cannabis” and issued an EC$800 fine which is to be paid within two months. If he fails to pay the sum within the prescribed time period, he would have to serve one month in prison. Commission of the offence was on December 10, 2007.
