Government to open two new Computer Access Centres

    ST. JOHN'S Antigua, October 20th, 2011 -- Under the Technology for Communication, Education and Empowerment programme, two new Community Computer Access Centers (CACs) will be opened on Friday 21st October at the Seventh Day Adventist School and the Ottos Comprehensive School.

     

    The Technology for Communication, Education and Empowerment programme is a joint initiative between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and Telecoms Company Digicel.

     

    Through the partnership, twelve community computer access centres will be opened in twelve secondary schools.

     

    Each institution will receive a fully air-conditioned CAC that can accommodate at least 16 persons, complete with ergonomic furniture, a ramp for wheel chair access and fully protected with a sophisticated security system.

     

    The “Technology for Communication, Education & Empowerment” project was officially launched on March 9th 2011 with the opening of the first two centres at the Glanvilles and All Saints Secondary Schools.

     

    Since then six new Community Computer Access Centers have officially been opened and a total of twenty-six centers have been opened since 2004.
