BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NICKEDA PEETS is Kajola Kristada’s new employee of the month for September, an accolade which, she said, came as a complete surprise.
Peets, a 24-year-old St. Peters resident and a mother of two girls, said that she joined the establishment in July 2010 and presently works in the Connector Line Department.
“I was shocked,” she said. “I wasn’t expecting it... they caught me off guard but it feels good. I consider myself to be a very hard worker and I love my job.”
Peets has improved in her work and has become a very versatile, humble, always on time and full of smiles employee, according to Human Resource Manager Malvie James.
James also said that the Employee of the Month programme has been going well and the employees have been looking forward to it.
“Now a lot of employees are asking their supervisors what they have to do to become employees of the month,” she said.
Among the criteria for judging the Employee of the Month are knowledge of the job, quality, attire, versatility, punctuality, attendance and team building according to James.
In a past interview the Human Resource manager had stated that the General Manager, José Rosa, is instrumental in making sure that the employees are recognised and duly awarded.
She mentioned that the company has an Employee of the Month Committee which includes supervisors from each department and two members of staff.
She also told SKNVibes that the supervisors are given appraisal forms upon which they would score the employees, and the employee with the highest points from each department would be discussed by the committee.
Kajola-Kristada Ltd. is owned by the Mezzalingua family in Syracuse, New York and first opened its doors on May 5, 1999.
