BASETERRE St.Kitts, October 21st 2011 - The Head Coach as well as the selection panel for the SKABA Select team that will be facing the Domnica National Team in November have been chosen.
According to President Romel Tobias the Head Coach for the SKABA Select will be Dave ‘Doc” Sutton the Coach of the recently crowned SKABA Champions the Ghaut Bucs.
“Doc has had an exceptional year as head coach and has had an equally exceptional career as a former national player and we are of the firm view that both his experiences as a Coach and former National Player will do well for the SKABA Select team against Domnica,” said SKABA President Tobias.
Sutton will have the option of chosing his own Coaching Staff including Assistant Coach. In addition a SKABA Selection Panel was put together to select the team that will face Dominica in November. The panel will also likely form the board of selectors for the upcoming year which will see the St.Kitts National team pursuing participation in a number of regional events including CBC and also the reviving of the LIBA Leeward Islands Basketball Association Tournament which St.Kitts will be seeking to host next year.
The SKABA Board of Selectors are: Dr. Garfeild Alexander, Dave Sutton, Dwayne Sturge, Ian Hanley and Romel Tobias.
The Baord is expected to have it’s imnagural meeting shortly after which the SKABA Select team will be announced. This select team will not only face Dominica but would more than likely form the basis of the National Team for the next year.
The Domnica Basketball team will be touring St.Kitts in November between the 11th and the 14th. They are scheduled to engae “A” Division Champions Exoduse, Premier Division Champs Ghaut Bucs as well as the SKABA Select Team.
