BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 24th 2011 - Families throughout the nation are being encouraged to show greater concern and empathy for the elderly. The St. Kitts & Nevis 4-H club embarked on a continuing outreach programme in adopting an elderly for the month of October. Elderly Month is a chance for us to recognize and value the contributions made by seniors in our communities the President Inita Lake of the St. Kitts Nevis 4-H said.
The St. Kitts Nevis 4-H Club worked in conjunction with the following Principals and schools in the 4-H communities, Mr. Terrence Edwards; Tyrell Williams Primary Old Road, Mr. John Gumbs; St. Paul's Primary, Ms Jacqueline Douglas; Dieppe Bay/Parson Ground, Ms Avonelle Martin; St. Peters Primary and Ms SherryAnne Joseph, Molineux community club to distribute 35 food baskets to the Elderly and Needy in the said communities during October 11th-19th 2011.
The Members of the St. Kitts Nevis 4H club and students of various primary school through out St.Kitts did not only deliver physical food but that also of a spiritual nature. They lighted up the hearts and faces of the recipients with songs, reading of particular scripture and prays. The event was lead by the President of the St. Kitts Nevis 4-H clubs Ms. Inita Lake along with other executive members.
St. Kitts Nevis 4-H club would like to thanks everyone who made this even a success especially Rams Supermarket, Coury’s Whole Sale and the Capisterre Farm for their generous donations. The St. Kitts Nevis 4-H club would also like to thank all the principles of the participating schools and by extension the ministry of education for allowing the students for carrying out this momentous activity.
