    Police investigate another shooting incident!

    ~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - DWIGHT SUTTON of Nevis Street, Basseterre escaped serious injury on Wednesday evening following a shooting incident that occurred on College Street.
     
    As per information provided by the police, the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. when, “an unknown person in the College Street area shot at Dwight Sutton of Nevis Street”.
     
    Sutton was “grazed on the hand and shoulder by two of the bullets” and has since been taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, treated and discharged.
     
    This incident occurred little more than 24 hours after Derrick Gumbs Jr., alias ‘Jake’, was gunned down in cold blood while in Newtown.
     
    According to a police press release, when officers arrived on the scene they found the young man, “lying in the street with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The Emergency Medical Services as well the district medical officer also attended the scene. The District Doctor pronounced Gumbs dead at the scene.”
     
    The release informs that according to the police’s investigations, “Gumbs and another person were sitting on a bench under a tree on the side of the road when they were attacked by person(s) with firearm(s). Gumbs attempted to run away but was shot in the back.”
    A nearby vehicle was damaged during the onslaught.
     
    Three persons were apprehended to assist police with their investigations, but one has since been released.
     
    “The Police are appealing to persons with information to pass this information to the Criminal Investigation Dept. at telephone 465-2241 ext. 220 or 236. Information received will be kept in strict confidence.”
     
    Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
