BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Large numbers of citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis have been calling in and sending emails to SKNVibes voicing their concerns and opinions on the issue of the two missing men, Keita Williams and Kasim ‘Dula’ Maynard.

Some citizens are also accusing this media house of not commenting on conflicting and questionable statements made by an individual involved in the incident, as against those made by two members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, in recently posted articles.

“SKNVibes professes to be the most efficient and proficient online media house in the region, and boasts of a very hardworking and intelligent staff. If so, then why isn’t there a critique on the statements made by Mr. Collin Matthew that were refuted by the Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Wallace, and its Public Affairs Officer Lieutenant Kayode Sutton?” one caller asked.

The caller further stated, “I am an ardent reader of articles posted on your website and it is incumbent on you, as all media houses are, to keep the public informed on all news worthy events, incidents, ideas, comments and opinions.
    Keita Williams

Only Tuesday another of our young men was senselessly gunned down, execution style, and this, like all the other killings in the recent past, is hurting the growth of our male population. Rumours abound on our streets as to what allegedly happened on February 19, therefore, where are your investigative journalists?”

Another caller, who was more direct, asked the following questions: “If, as claimed by the Army boss, the Coast Guard was first informed about the incident by individuals on Nevis before Izum did, how did they on Nevis know of it? The Army boss also stated that investigations revealed that Izum went to his home before making the report at the Coast Guard Base.

Therefore, where was the urgency in finding or rescuing the two young men? Izum’s home is further away from the area where the incident allegedly occurred than the Coast Guard Base. Therefore, why did he go home, is it that he had to dispose of something and is not telling the truth and the whole truth of what really transpired? What are the police doing about it?”

A few other callers had asked similar questions and provided answers to them. But the most shocking revelation made by a number of callers was the alleged sighting of one of the missing men.

~~Adz:Left~~ “At least on two occasions I have seen one of the so-called missing men. The first occasion was a night while walking with my girlfriend in a certain village in St. Kitts; and the second was in the same village, but I was alone. I am not the only person to have seen one of the two missing men…many others have also seen him,” one caller said.

The said caller asked, “Where is the CID, is our Police Force lacking good intelligence network? I am positive that information on the sighting of the so-called missing man was passed to the police. What are they waiting for?

Another thing of great importance is that since one of them was seen alive, where is the other? Is he alive or dead? If the former, then where is he? As a law-abiding citizen, I am appealing to the so-called missing man that was sighted, as well as Izum, to set the other guy’s parents and concerned citizens’ heart at ease. Tell us where he is!”

In response to some of the opinions made and questions asked by callers, SKNVibes acknowledged that it has a duty to disseminate information to its readership, but is unaware of the sighting of any of the missing men.

The callers were also told that the police are the best institution for the passage of such information, and SKNVibes does not base its reports on “hear say” but on facts and empirical evidence.

Keita Williams and Kasim ‘Dula’ Maynard have been reported missing since the night of Tuesday, February 19, 2008 after it was reported that the boat in which they had gone to clear fish traps in the Atlantic Ocean had capsized when struck by a huge wave.
