Human remains found at Palmetto Point
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INVESTIGATIONS into the discovery of bones found in the Palmetto Point area a few weeks ago revealed that they are likely to be those of 79-year-old Thomas Lynner of Challengers Village.

Lynner was reported missing on Sunday, November 12, 2007 and, according to a police press release, he was last seen on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at about 7:30 in the evening “in the vicinity of a house at Willis Ghaut, Challengers”.

A police press release issued on Friday, February 29, 2008 reported that a man from Palmetto Point stumbled upon what he thought to be human bones while tending his livestock.

The authorities were informed of the find and responded as quickly as possible to the scene. The team that visited the area comprised the District Medical Officer (DMO), officers of the Old Road Police Station and members of the District ‘B’ Crime Response Unit.

The release further informed that the DMO was unable to ascertain to whom the bones belonged, but “the remains were removed and kept for further forensic examination to establish identity and possible cause of death”.

SKNVibes understands that the bones were taken to the Bio Research Foundation at Bourryeau Village, where they were examined by Dr. Jean Rodman who ascertained that “the remains were those of a male within the age range of 70 years or older.  He further stated that the remains may have been exposed for a period of six months to one year.”   ~~Adz:Right~~

Although the examinations did not reveal the identity of the bones, the police “reasonably believe that the remains are the mortal remains of Mr. Thomas David (Lynner)…of Challengers Village”.

The family of the Thomas Lynner has been informed of the outcome of the investigations.
