Walwyn Consulting filling services gap in business community

    Christine Walwyn
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - COMING from a family whose name is synonymous with commerce, Christine Walwyn has always been involved in business in some way, shape, or form. It follows then that she would eventually, no matter how long it took, open her own business; and on October 1, 2007 Walwyn Consulting was born.

Walwyn has had 11 years experience in the tourism sector and the key services offered by her new company - “Events Planning” and “Strategic Marketing” - are things she has been doing to make her living for over 10 years and, quite effectively for her previous employer (St. Kitts & Nevis Federal Government), to have attained the position of Chief Executive Officer (AG) of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

This experience is matched by a sound educational background as Walwyn holds a Masters of Science in Tourism from the International School of Tourism Sciences in Rome, Italy; a Certificate in Destination Management from George Washington University in Washington DC; a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and a Certificate in Microcomputer Programming from City University of New York at Queens College in Flushing NY.

She has a target market of tourism and hospitality stakeholders, multinational corporations, community festivals and government departments. To date, she has done a theme party for Cable & Wireless St. Kitts & Nevis Ltd.[last year] and destination weddings from clients onboard cruise ships; and completed strategic analysis and designed a marketing plan for Monkey Bar this year. Walwyn has also been contracted by the St. Kitts & Nevis National Olympic Committee as a Special Event Consultant.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Other events that Walwyn has lent her flavour and expertise are the Annual St. Kitts Music Festival (in which she has been involved since inception), Carifesta VII (2000 Caribbean Festival of Arts, and major international conferences including the 10th Annual Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Conference in 2005, Fifth Caribbean Tourism Organisation Sustainable Tourism Conference in 2003, 10th Annual Carib News Conference in 2005 and the 33rd Annual Caribbean Development Bank Conference 2003.

Other services available from Walwyn Consulting include: Integrated Marketing Plans, Strategic Analysis, Process Automation, Events Planning, Projects Management, Sponsorship Procurement, and Research & Compilation of Historical/Cultural Information.  Complimentary consulting is available for first-time clients, so go visit www.walwynconsulting.com today!

Walwyn Consulting’s objective is to develop marketing strategies harmonious with the region’s tourism thrust.  It is based on the philosophy that the Federation needs, in earnest, to harness its national and cultural resources to further strengthen and sustain the tourism product.

Walwyn sees her company as having endless possibilities for growth and new business, because of the global village the world has become through the use of the internet and computers.

National pride is deeply ingrained in Walwyn, and because of this she feels mounting concern with the upsurge of violence within the Federation, especially among the youths.

St. Kitts & Nevis is a package of natural (rainforests, beaches, mountains), and human resources, and “if we destroy our assets, we will loose our attractiveness and our standing as a well sought after place”.

Walwyn feels that more needs to be done to ensure the youth stay in school and find constructive outlets for negative energy and create a sustainable future.
