BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Mattingley Heights resident was yesterday (Oct. 26) arrested and charged for possession of ammunition and possession of illegal substance.
SKNVibes learned that Philip Lloyd of Mattingley Heights is currently in custody at the Basseterre Police Station awaiting appearance before a city magistrate to seek bail.
Information reaching this publication indicates that sometime between 6:00 and 6:30 yesterday morning, members of the Delta Squad executed a search warrant at Lloyd’s home and found a quantity of ammunition and vegetable material suspected to be marijuana (ganja).
In continuance of its day and night patrols in hotspots on St. Kitts, aimed at retaking the streets from the gangs and other criminals, Delta Squad, over a five-day period, has made a number of arrests and found a quantity of illegal substance as well as ammunition.
On Friday (Oct. 21), members of this elite task crime-fighting task force executed an early morning search warrant at the Lime Kiln home of 56-year-old Rosalyn Whyte and found a quantity of vegetable material suspected to be marijuana (ganja) hidden in a barrel within one of her bedrooms.
She was arrested, charged and subsequently placed on bail.
And on the following day, members of the Delta Squad executed a search warrant on a home in St. Johnston Village and seized 76 rounds of assorted ammunition. One person was arrested for this find.
Meanwhile, acting on information, their colleagues in the Special Service Unit (SSU) on Saturday night (Oct. 22) searched an abandoned building on Johnson Street, Baker’s Corner and found one 9mm pistol with six matching rounds.
On the same night, members of the SSU executed a search warrant on a residence in Greenlands and found a small quantity of marijuana.
A search of a premises opposite the Greenlands residence, which contained tall grasses and shrubs, realised one .380 pistol with 11 matching rounds of ammunition, 35 .38 rounds of ammunition and one .45 round of ammunition.
