BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Godwin Ghant man was taken to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital for treatment after being struck by a vehicle last evening (Oct. 27).
The incident, according to information reaching this publication, occurred at approximately, 8:45 p.m.
A visit to the scene by SKNVibes revealed that motorcar P6694, which was driven by Gustave Lake of Godwin Ghaut, was lodged under a shed which forms part of Fearless Ocean Bar and Grill, located in Godwin Ghaut.
Police officers were also on scene making investigations into the incident, however, attempts to gain information from persons in the area were unsuccessful.
Subsequent information reaching SKNVibes indicates the owner of the enterprise, Jeremy ‘Fearless’ Wigley of Godwin Ghaut was the sole casualty of the occurrence.
In an exclusive interview with this publication, Wigley explained that he was at his bar viewing a DVD when he noticed a vehicle speeding by, traveling towards Sandy Point’s direction. He said that that vehicle had reason to decelerate which caused the driver of P6694 (which was driving behind it) to swing off in an attempt to avoid a two-vehicle collision.
Unfortunately, the driver of P6694 crashed into the bar injuring Wigley in the process.
He said he remembers hearing the sound of screeching tyres before he was struck and flung from the chair in which he sat.
The injured man was taken to the JNF General Hospital where he received treatment for injuries including those to his head, back and leg.
The vehicle sustained damage to its front including the hood, bumper and right wheel.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
