~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Foreign students looking to attend the various universities on St. Kitts and Nevis may soon require and Entry Visa in order to do so.

According to the latest Post Cabinet briefing following Monday’s Federal Cabinet session, “government is convinced that there is need to impose entry visa requirements for all foreign students outside of the Cariforum Region (i.e. Caricom and the Dominican Republic)”.

The briefing stated that the decision was arrived at following a government study of the pattern of foreign student entry into and exit from the Federation.

The new requirement also mandates that students wishing to enroll in the universities in the Federation would have to “demonstrate the ability to financially sustain themselves throughout the duration of their”.

Officials did not say how this would affect students presently enrolled in school locally with regard to their exit and entrance into the country following returns home or travel outside the federation. Nor did they give any specific date as to when this new requirement would take effect.
