Police arrest five in Tabernacle, Mansion; three charged

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE men from the villages of Tabernacle and Mansion were recently charged for possession of illegal drugs, following an operation launched by members of the Delta Squad, Drug Squad and officers from the Tabernacle Police Station.

     

    Information reaching SKNVibes states that warrants were executed on a number of residences in Tabernacle and Mansion Villages on Tuesday (Oct. 25) and a quantity of cannabis sativa (ganja), electronic items and farming equipment, suspected to be stolen, were found.

     

    Five men were arrested and taken into custody, but two were released and the other charged.

     

    Those charged are Deshawan Richardson of Mansion Village, Michael Finch and Crispin Carey, both of whom reside at Tabernacle Village.

     

    According to Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime, Ian Queeley, Richardson was charged with possession of cannabis, while Finch and Carey were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another.

     

    The trio is expected to appear before in court shortly to answer to their charges.

     

    According to a senior functionary in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the institution has stepped up its patrol by both day and night in order to make St. Kitts a safer place not only for its citizens and residents, but also visitors to the island.

     

    He noted that since the inception of Delta Squad, an initiative of Commissioner Walwyn, many joint operations were launched and had resulted in the finds of a number of illegal firearms and ammunition.

     

    The senior functionary also noted that not only the perpetrators of gun-related and other serious criminal offences are being targeted, but also all individual who would have violated the law, including the users and suppliers of illegal drugs.
