BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - News coming from the 40/40 National Carnival Committee state that a whopping 71 individuals have registered to compete in this year’s 40/40 LIME sponsored Senior Calypso Monarch Competition.
Of the 71, thirty two (32) come from the Legends Tent, thirty (30) from the Proud Sounds Tent and nine (9) listed no tent affiliation on their registration forms, However, by the time the Semi-Finals are held on Thursday, December 15th 2011 only seven will be chosen to compete against reigning King Pungwa at the LIME Senior Calypso Monarch Competition on Saturday 28th December, 2011.
From as early as this coming Sunday Nov 6, when the first calypso tent kicks off, the public will begin judging and placing bets on who will win the crown. Soon after that judges will begin to visit the tents to decide who will merit a pass to sing at the Semi-Finals.
In the meantime, here are the seventy one calypsonians who will be entering the calypso ring this year for the 40/40 Sugar Mas rounds of calypso bouts!
