    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (FEBRUARY 6TH 2004) – The Forum of Federations is assisting St. Kitts and Nevis in the ongoing efforts of constitutional reform.

    Former Canadian Premier of Ontario, Canada and Chairman and President of the Forum of Federations, the Hon. Bob Rae, met during a working luncheon Wednesday with St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas; Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Constitutional Reform Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Sam Condor; Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. Delano Bart and Chief Secretary, Mr. Joseph Edmeade.

    The Foundation has indicated an interest in documenting information with regards to the financial and fiscal relationship between St. Kitts and Nevis and the implications on each island as a separate unit.

    Prime Minister Douglas has welcomed the assistance of Premier Rae and looks forward to the Report and proposals as to how the Forum of Federations can assist with the constitutional reform process.

    Mr. Rae also traveled to Nevis, where he held discussions with the Premier, the Hon. Vance Amory and Leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, the Hon. Joseph Parry.

    Mr. Rae served as Ontario’s 21st Premier and was elected eight times to Federal and Provincial Parliaments before his retirement from politics in 1996.

    He is also the Chairman of the Institute for Research on Public Policy, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
