Police officer charged for raping underage girl

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force was slapped with two charges for allegedly raping an underage girl.

This report was confirmed by the Officer with responsibility for Crime, Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Ian Queeley, who told SKNVibes that a Constable based at the Cayon Police Station was yesterday (Nov. 5) arrested and charged with rape and unlawful carnal knowledge.

ACP Queeley also confirmed that the alleged incident took place at the Cayon Police Station on Friday (Oct. 30) while the minor and her brother were in custody there following their arrest for an undisclosed matter.

He noted that after the report was made, a female officer of the Criminal Investigation Department had taken the girl, who is said to be no more than 14 years old, to the Joseph N France General Hospital for an examination.

Reports indicate that the police were made aware of the alleged incident after the girl and her sibling were released from the station.

Reports further indicate that the girl’s mother had reported the matter to the authorities after she had learnt that her daughter told an individual that an officer had sex with her while she was in custody at that station.
