BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 12th 2011 - Coming out of this year's festive Chambalay weekend (Nov. 5-7), host organization SPIRIT has set the stage for another eventful day, this time with a focus on saying thanks.
This Saturday (Nov. 12), all winners from last week's events will be awarded at a Chambalay ceremony at the Sandy Point Hard Court starting at 6:00 P.M. In a massive show of community development, SPIRIT will be distributing over ECD $10, 000 worth of cash prizes, gift packages and other services from the community to all the winners and many participants of Chambalay 2011.
According to SPIRIT PRO Che-Raina Warner, after receiving such immense support and after seeing so great a turn-out at the events, it was necessary to do something big to give back to the community and say thanks.
'We saw huge, detailed plans for never-before-tried events being pulled together in a very short space of time. The people of Sandy Point and neighboring areas supported us overwhelmingly; thousands of people flooded the streets and really took part in the new events. Also, Carib Brewery (St. Kitts and Nevis) Ltd. gave enormous support to our events, which we are very grateful for. This is why, with corporate partners like the Breweries, we continue with our agenda to give back with a view to re-igniting Sandy Point Pride,' Warner said.
On the winners' stand for Chambalay's first-ever Guinness Street Football Challenge are Village Superstars FC, Sandy Point United, St. Pauls FC and Cayon FC. And after defeating the host team 2:0 in a nail-biting showdown, Village Superstars FC will be walking away with the top cash prize of ECD$ 1, 000 while their runner-up, Sandy Point United takes, ECD$500 compliments Guinness.
The top five teams from the inaugural Kart Part Olympics will also claim enviable prizes this Saturday! Etching their names into Chambalay history is Mad House Squad in first place; with quite a large contingent, The Alley took second place and the team from The Ghaut showed much stamina in securing third place. Teams from Fig Tree and Crab Hill will also shine in the winner's circle for finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Not only will this Saturday's event feature last week's winners but it will also complement last weekend with an exciting 3-on-3 Mini Basketball Tournament (with SPIRIT game rules) and Out-A-Man 1-Run Cricket. Interested teams are asked to contact Sean Crossley at (869) 663-6533 or 762-6533 to get a chance to win impressive prizes. Come out and expect exciting twists to both games as is the norm at SPIRIT events.
'We've lined up another set of games: basketball and cricket! Get your teams in, while it's still early and bring along your supporters! It is bound to be another fun and thrilling occasion for the entire family,' Warner said.
Remember this is the final bit of Chambalay you'll have until next November, so come on out and get involved and let's make this year's celebrations even more memorable!
