Premier addresses Kittitian and Nevisian students at Cave Hill

PRESS RELEASE

    CHARLESTOWN Nevis, November,11th, 2011 -- The St. Kitts- Nevis Students' Association on 8th November, 2011 welcomed the Honourable Joseph Parry, Premier of Nevis to the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. The meeting commenced at approximately 8:30pm at the Faculty of Law Moot Court.

     

    The Hon. Joseph Parry, who is also the Minister of Education and Library Services, was accompanied by the Principal Education Officer and Acting Permanent Secretary of Education and Library Services Mrs. Lornette Queeley-Connor.

     

    According to the President of the St. Kitts- Nevis Students' Association, Mr. Azard Gumbs," the event took the form of a very interactive discussion. The Premier addressed the students on a number of topical issues that the students were enthusiastic to hear mentioned.

     

    Some of these issues included the re-opening of the Fort Season Hotel in Nevis, Crime, the progress of Geothermal Energy and the National Debt. He noted that stringent measures are being put in place to curb the debt. He also re-assured us that the future is bright for young minds."

     

    Mr. Azard Gumbs noted that it is always a pleasure to have dignitaries at Cave Hill from our Federation to share the experiences and realities of home.  He stated that during his tenure as President of the Association there have been appearances from different Ministers of Government.

     

    In April 2011, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris was the Guest Speaker at the St. Kitts- Nevis Students' Association Farewell and Awards Dinner. Just recently the Attorney General of the Federation, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett gave the Featured Address at the Independence Gala of the St. Kitts-Nevis Association held on 24th September, 2011 at Cave Hill.

     

    "On behalf of the Association I wish to express sincere gratitude to the Hon. Joseph Parry and the Principal Education Officer and  Acting Permanent Secretary of Education and Library Services Mrs. Lornette Queeley-Connor for being so gracious to pay us a visit while on official business in Barbados," stated Gumbs.
