OTTLEYS VILLAGE, St. Kitts – A masked man who attacked and wounded an east-line bus route driver was shot last Sunday morning by a member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Strike Force.

At about 6:50 a.m. on Sunday last, Ishan ‘Merciless’ Huggins of Ottley’s Village, popularly known in the music industry as ‘Jah Fire’, was shot in his leg by a member of the Strike Force after he attacked and wounded Dave Rubaine, driver of passenger bus H7585.

Information reaching SKNVibes state that while Rubaine, on his second trip from Basseterre to Saddlers Village, stopped for a passenger to disembark at the entrance of an alley in Ottley’s Village, a man dressed in black with a dark piece of clothing covering his face started throwing pieces of concrete blocks at the bus from within the alley.

Some of the ‘missiles’ thrown struck the bus causing minor damages to the door on the driver’s side, while one of them hit the driver on his right wrist which caused him to seek medical attention.

As the attacker continued his assault on the vehicle, an off-duty member of the Strike Force, who was aboard the bus, fired a shot from his service firearm and wounded the man later identified as Huggins.  ~~Adz:Right~~

According to Rubaine, the attacker fled the scene down the alley, and while contemplating on giving chase the officer was warned by another passenger that the wounded man was armed with a knife.

Huggins was shortly after apprehended by officers from the Cayon Police Station who summoned a unit from the Emergency Medical Services that transported him to the JNF General Hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wound to his leg and subsequently discharged.

In his explanation to the reason for the attack on himself and the bus, Rubaine told SKNVibes that earlier on Sunday morning he and Huggins had a disagreement. He said Huggins had tried to prevent passengers, who had already paid their fare, from entering his bus in the vicinity of Club NV in Canada Estate.

Rubaine indicated that he would be seeking compensation for his injury and so would the owner of the bus for damages to the door.

    Police investigations are ongoing.
