BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Students of the Cayon Primary School have made a kind gesture to one of their fellow villagers who is currently hospitalized at the JNF Hospital.

23 year-old Van-Devere Williams was left paralyzed after the Sunrise Bakery bus which he was driving overturned on 14th March in the New Road area. According to Williams he had been trying to avoid hitting some animals when the incident occurred.

Today 11th April, Williams was presented with a monetary donation of $525 by Principal Marva Williams-Buchanan who said one of the reasons they wanted to make this donation was because of the strong ties between Williams and the Cayon Primary School.

While Williams was a former student and his sister is the traffic warden assigned to the school and has become friends with the faculty and staff.  ~~Adz:Right~~

She said the contribution is small but it is just their “little way of giving back to the community.”  The school head assured that they will continue to keep him in their prayers.

A very emotional Williams was teary eyed when he said, “I am quite happy that the school came forward to do this for me.”

His aunt Shez Dore-Tyson added “the family is very touched, and even though it may be small we are more than grateful and express our sincere appreciation”

SKNVibes.com also spoke to Tyson who said the whole incident has been really traumatic for the family to deal with both psychologically and financially.

According to her, Williams will not be able to walk again, however the doctors are exploring all the possibilities.

Also present at the brief handing over were his father Joseph Williams, his fiancé Suzeth Benjamin, his sister Stacey Fahie and niece Shavalde Fahie and from the school were Deputy Principal, Jacqulyn Lewis-Bassue and senior teachers Violet Gordon and Angela Adams-Matthew.
