Beach Club Facility at Sandy Bank Bay Offers Owners, Guests First Resort Amenity
BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 14th 2011 - The Christophe Harbour Development Company achieved a major milestone by opening its first amenity – The Pavilion, a private beach club located at Sandy Bank Bay.
An official grand opening celebration was held Friday, November 11, 2011 for approximately 150 guests including Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas; Governor General, His Excellency Sir Cuthbert Sebastian; Chief Secretary Mr. Joseph Edmeade; Ambassador to the United Nations, His Excellency Mr. Delano Bart; Christophe Harbour property owners and their guests. The completion of the nearly $8 million USD facility show investment and progress continue at the 2,500 acre resort community located on the southeast peninsula.
“The opening of The Pavilion represents an important step for Christophe Harbour by being a tangible accomplishment that again demonstrates our commitment to St. Kitts,” said LeGrand Elebash, Chief Operating Officer, Christophe Harbour. “In this economy, people need to see evidence of progress, which is something a blueprint or a promise just can’t provide.
The completion of a facility of this caliber with its grand and sophisticated scale certainly shows that progress.”
The 9,700-square foot, open air pavilion includes a 60-seat dining room serving breakfast and lunch, cabana beach bar, infinity-edge pool, shower/changing areas and direct beach access where chairs, umbrellas and towel service are provided. A staff of 12, predominately Kittitian employees, operate the facility which is open seven days a week to Christophe Harbour property owners, their family members and friends.
Guests staying in the Turtle Beach Bungalows or nearby Windswept Villas will also have access.
Speaking at the official opening, Prime Minister Douglas said: “Founding members, prospective purchasers, and guests, I want you to know that you’re not just investing in a resort community, you’re investing in the lives of the Kittitian people and the future of this country. The opening of The Pavilion Beach Club on St. Kitts’ southeast peninsula is a splendid piece of property that enhances not only the Sandy Bank area but also the natural beauty of the twin-island.”
Designed by architect John Denton Haley and built by dck Worlwide, The Pavilion is nestled into the dunes and draws inspiration from West Indian colonial design as well as the surrounding landscape. By utilizing an array of indigenous stones, polished woods and metals, the building is architecturally unique for the Caribbean and will influence the design of future dwellings and facilities at Christophe Harbour.
With completion of The Pavilion, Christophe Harbour will now shift focus to the construction of the super-yacht marina while it continues to negotiate with several luxury hotels.
